Scholarships
The Hall of Fame awards a $2,000 scholarship each year to a qualifying PHHS Student to help deserving students continue their education at an accredited college, university, or technical school.
Congratulations to Alexander “Duke” Flanagan, our 2025 scholarship winner!
Alexander “Duke” Flanagan is an exceptional athlete who also participated in numerous extracurricular activities at Patrick Henry High School. Duke graduated in May 2025 with a 3.28 GPA and an Advanced Diploma in a rigorous program that included several Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
He excelled in four (4) sports at PHHS: volleyball, tennis, and swimming for 4 years and 1 year in track. He was the team captain in volleyball, tennis, and swimming, and was named to the All-Region and All-State Boys Volleyball teams in his junior and senior years. Duke also played travel volleyball and achieved a national championship in the 15U AAU category.
He was a section leader in the choir and is a member of the Tri-M Music Honors Society. Duke is also an accomplished pianist.
Duke was involved in NJROTC, culminating in the position of Operations Officer. In the community, he was active through the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the position of Eagle Scout. He also volunteered in numerous civic activities.
He enlisted in the Air Force Reserve following graduation and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Roanoke College. Go Duke!
Eligibility requirements
Student Status - Graduating high school senior
Athletic Experience - At least 2 years of varsity-level athletics
Academics - Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Athletic Achievement - Demonstrated excellence in varsity athletics
Leadership - Evidence of leadership qualities
Letter of Recommendation - From a coach or athletic director
Essay - 300-500 words on "how your participation in athletics prepared you to be successful personally and in your community"
Extra Curricular - School activities outside of athletics
Community Service - Activities outside of PHHS
